The Laser Lounge at Clinique Élan Cambridge

At Clinique Élan Cambridge we have Laser treatments on offer from The Laser Lounge. We use the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus™️, this machine is highly evolved for the safe treatment of pigmentation, vascular issues, and for treating unwanted hair on all skin types.

The GentleMax Pro PlusTM system is the latest evolution of the Gentle family lasers with increased capabilities on an evolved platform. It consists of the same dual-wavelengths of both 755 nm Alexandrite and the 1064 nm Nd:YAG as its predecessor and has further expanded in its ability to treat more efficiently, comfortably and can even successfully treat fine and residual hair with clinically proven results.

What are the treatments like?
The laser delivers an intense beam of light, which is absorbed by the skin and converted to heat energy. Some patients may feel a slight discomfort with the laser pulse, also described as a snap of a rubber band on the skin.

How many treatments will I require?
The number of sessions depends on the desired treatment area and the condition of your skin.

What precautions should I take after treatment?
After your laser treatment, prevent sun exposure by applying sunblock (SPF 30 or above). In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers. Your practitioner may advise additional precautions.

Can all skin types be treated?
Gentle offers effective laser hair removal treatments on the widest variety of skin and hair types. Your practitioner will advise on the number of treatments for permanent hair reduction, while improving skin quality and revealing silky, smooth skin.

What areas you you treat?

Laser hair removal is possible on all body and facial areas that present with excess or unwanted hair, including underarms, bikini, Brazilian, chest, back, stomach, legs and more.
Vascular and pigmented lesions can also be treated anywhere on the face or body.
Your therapist will help determine the number of expected treatments and the correct frequency for your hair type. Consultations are complimentary and required before undergoing laser treatment at Clinique Élan.

Pigmented lesions

Pigmented lesions are extremely common and most often caused by the sun. They include freckles, age spots and liver spots and normally contain high concentrations of melanin (pigment). Hormonal factors, injury and ageing can also cause abnormal pigmented lesions.

Skin Rejuvenation

Laser Skin Rejuvenation is becoming more and more popular as a choice for skin rejuvenation. We offer it in Hamilton, also known as Laser Genesis. There is zero downtime involved, treatment is painless, but it effectively addresses a wide range of issues.

It helps to soften fine lines, particularly around the eyes, improve acne scarring, reduce pore size, hydrate dry crepey skin and reduce generalised redness. It is therefore a great Rosacea treatment, but also treats discolouration of the neck, (Poikloderma of Civatte), as well as general texture improvement of the neck and chest areas.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Laser light of a specific wavelength is directed at the skin, aiming to heat small areas at a time up to a specified temperature. This is held for a set period of time to effectively destroy the perivascular component of the skin, which causes generalised redness.   The heat also stimulates regeneration of new collagen, while strengthening existing collagen fibres.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Skin Rejuvenation is the safest of all the light therapy treatments we offer.  It is actually very soothing. Risks are minimal in the right hands.
