Treatments

Choice of treatment for fine lines depends largely on where they are.

Our skin varies in texture and thickness from one area to another. Treatment options therefore vary according to area and depth.

The EYE area for example, is thinner and more fragile than on the rest of the face, which makes it more challenging to treat without unwanted side effects. The more gentle treatments such as Omnilux, eye creams, products containing growth factors and laser Genesis, are generally often more appropriate and all that is needed. Dermal stamping/rolling, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) or the use of botulinum toxin and fillers also have their place.

Wrinkles around the MOUTH are generally more challenging to correct as they are often deeper, have more underlying collagen loss, and appear in areas of constant movement i.e. talking, eating, drinking etc. Fillers are generally the first choice of treatment in this instance, but addressing any skin issues first, using one of the rejuvenation options mentioned above, will improve the results of any filler treatment, as well as increasing its longevity.

For remaining areas, the same principles as above apply.

Forehead

The forehead area can refer to the forehead itself, frown lines, (glabella), eyebrows and temples. The use of Botulinum toxin is the most common treatment of choice, particularly for the frown. It can also be used to soften horizontal lines on the forehead (within limits), and for eyebrow enhancement. We commonly use a combination of treatments for this area to avoid any dropping of the brows. The combination of filler and toxin is our favourite approach as it treats both lines at rest and the deep lines that appear with movement, without completely paralysing the whole area. PRP is also becoming more popular for lift in this area, as well as for reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal stamping can also improve skin texture.
