Dermal Fillers

How do they work?

The dermal fillers used at Clinique Elan are made of Hyaluronic Acid (known as HA), which is a natural forming sugar molecule, and by far the most common filler used by  Appearance Medicine injectors worldwide. They are injected into the face to address areas of concern, eg fine lines and wrinkles, thinning or fine lips, and volume loss. There are different strengths and thicknesses of HA within the range, which means each of these indications can be addressed accordingly. Results are instant.

How long do they last?

The longevity of fillers varies depending on strength of filler used (thicker ones last up to 2 years), and how mobile the area is, eg around the mouth will not last as long as areas that don’t move as much; and the volume injected. In certain areas, combining treatment of filler and toxin, can help the longevity eg forehead lines whereby weakening muscles and therefore restricting movement with toxin, will ensure the filler lasts longer.

Are there any side effects?

As with any injectables, the most common side effects are those of putting a needle into the skin eg bruising or redness. It is regarded as a low risk procedure, but other possible side effects and complications are discussed at consultation.
There is usually no downtime, or minimal, involved. We apply mineral makeup straight after treatment, so clients can return to work immediately without problem.
PAIN: We use topical anaesthetic or nerve blocks to minimise any pain, so it is not considered a highly painful procedure at our clinic.

How much does it cost?

Unlike most clinics, we do not insist on clients purchasing a full syringe of product. At CE we have available syringes of filler starting at $90 for 0.1ml, which would generally fill a couple of fine upper lip lines, or $405 for 0.5ml of volume replacement filler, which would give a subtle enhancement to cheeks, or lift the corners of the mouth. The amount needed varies for each person. An estimate of volume is discussed at the time of consultation, along with estimate of cost.
