Derma Cryo Pen

What is it?

The Dermapen Cryo uses a very precise jet of highly compressed liquefied nitrous oxide (N2O) to destroy benign lesions, such as warts, skin tags, and age spots. It allows the user to treat unsightly skin lesions in a matter of seconds. The Cryo™ freezes the lesion's inter-cellular fluid, forming ice crystals, which subsequently rupture the cell membrane, thus destroying the cell.

Immediately following treatment, the lesion may darken, blister or look relatively unchanged. It can take up to 2 weeks to complete the subsequent healing process. Scabs may form, which will peel off on their own time, sometimes leaving a pink area on the skin, which usually resolves over a period of time. Thicker lesions e.g. warts, are more likely to react this way and may need more than one treatment for ultimate results.

The Dermapen Cryo™ is able to penetrate up to 1 mm per 5 seconds of application, making it an extremely versatile machine, treating anything from extremely superficial sun spots, to lesions up to 5 mm in depth. At Clinique Elan we also have an Acutip, which is generally our first choice for treating brown freckle-like lesions. They are very superficial so it is essential that we control depth of penetration into the skin, to lessen the chance of scarring.

If we come across any lesions that we are unsure of, we will request you visit a dermatologist or plastic surgeon to determine whether they are safe for us to treat.
